Our client is a major industrial player in its field and a member of an international group with various production sites throughout Europe. 

For one of its main industrial and chemical production sites located in the East of France, we were looking for an Industrial Maintenance Manager (M/F).

The aim of this interim management assignment was to supervise all the maintenance teams, who were very active on the industrial site, while ensuring that deadlines and the quality of technical interventions on the machines were met.

The mission

The candidate was required to report directly to the Site Manager and served as a key member of the Site Management team. The primary responsibilities of the position included:

  • Managing all maintenance teams, consisting of approximately 50 salaried employees.
  • Supervising external service providers, coordinating the efforts of around 50 providers working on various equipment at the site.
  • Ensuring that deadlines were met to minimise the downtime of industrial equipment.
  • Maintaining high standards in the quality of work to prevent industrial incidents or lost-time injuries.
  • Overseeing the maintenance budget of approximately €10 million annually for the site.

In this capacity, the candidate acted as the site manager’s deputy, effectively overseeing all maintenance activities with a focus on efficiency and operational continuity. Additionally, the candidate was tasked with managing the human resources of a newly strategic site.

The profile

Background & experience

  • Mechanical engineering degree
  • At least 10 years’ experience in industrial maintenance
  • Must have worked in the liquid or mineral chemicals industry
  • Experience in process industries (Chemicals, Glass, Minerals, Steel, Cement, Nuclear, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP R3, PM module a plus
